  • Chinese Censors Turn Up The Heat On Google – When Google shut down its Chinese search operations and moved them to Hong Kong, it placed its search results outside the so-called Great Chinese Firewall. China immediately started blocking politically sensitive search queries, just as it does for all Web content outside the firewall. That was a week ago. But reports are coming out of China today that censors are turning up the heat on Google, and “searches on any topic delivered an error message,” according to the Telegraph
  • DIY Foursquare – Introducing Double Dutch – RateItAll, a top consumer ratings site headquartered in San Francisco, recently launched its white label location-based mobile social network platform, Double Dutch (http://doubledutch.me). It received noteworthy coverage and rave reviews at SXSW in Austin. And it’s a blast to test drive.
  • CBS and the iPad, Working Towards Media Monetization – CBS has been testing HTML5 on the upcoming iPad, giving us a hint at what we can expect from media and its consumer interface on Apple’s latest family member. The iPad won’t be available for you until April 3, but pre-order sales have already soared based on the anticipation around the device. Large content distributors like CBS are hoping to take full advantage of the hype around the iPad, seeing it as another opportunity for delivering media into the hands of consumers.
  • Brightcove Looks to HTML5 on iPad as Well – Brightcove is the latest company to look to HTML5 as a workaround for Apple products. As HTML5 is the browser-based alternative to Flash, many app developers have been toying with the new option specifically for use on mobile Apple devices.
  • MapQuest Brings Free Voice Navigation to the iPhone – It’s quite inevitable, really: after Google announced free turn-by-turn GPS navigation for Android devices, followed by Nokia’s decision to offer the same on its smartphones, the price of full-featured GPS navigation apps on other platforms is hurtling towards zero.
